Discovering Campus and the University Resource Fair

Immunization Clinic for Required Vaccines (Not Required Unless a Student is Missing Required Vaccines)

There will be an immunization clinic on, Tuesday, August 30, 2011 for any new students arriving who need any required vaccines. This includes the meningitis vaccine. There will be a charge for the vaccines: cash, check or credit cards will be accepted. Please consult with your insurance provider to see if these costs can be reimbursed. The immunization clinic will be held at The Center for Health and Wellness, located in Rhodes Hall, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

Recognizing that many new students are unfamiliar with local shopping areas and are in need of supplies before the start of term, the Graduate Student Association has planned a trip to the Watertown/Arsenal Mall area.  Students will be able to purchase needed supplies for home and school at shops like Target, Best Buy, Home Depot, Marshalls, Old Navy, and the Registry of Motor Vehicles.  In addition, there are a number of restaurants for students to eat on their own or in groups.  Prior to boarding the bus at approximately 10:00 am, current students will share their experiences about moving to the Boston/Waltham area and help you get acquainted with the area.  Learn the best locations to shop, buy groceries and home essentials and have fun!   

Note:  Last bus leaves shopping area at 2:30 pm.  Students must be at shuttle early to ensure trip back to Bentley.

Sunday, September 11th two buses will depart from the LaCava Bus Stop at 2:00 p.m. sharp and will drop students off at Washington Street near Chinatown. Buses will then pick students up at the same place on Washington Street at 6:00 p.m. to return to Bentley’s campus. Students should plan to arrive early to ensure a ride back to campus.

Visit Boston's Chinatown, one of America's largest Chinese neighborhoods, located at the edge of the downtown shopping and financial districts. Here you will find traditional architecture, outdoor markets, and historic sites. There are numerous Chinese restaurants, bakeries, and teahouses along with some Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese restaurants as well. You will also find specialty shops selling everything from medicinal dried roots and herbs to fine jade jewelry. Food markets sell fresh fish, hard-to-find Asian vegetables and even live poultry. History, family, food, and tradition make for a rich mix in one of the city's oldest and yet ever-changing neighborhoods.

Dan Thibeault, President & CEO of “GL Advisor” will host both a discussion and Q&A on a topic: “How Macroeconomic Factors Are Shaping Graduate Student’s Careers, Investments & Borrowing Outcomes.”

The past generation’s Great Moderation resulted in financial market expansion and widespread prosperity for US graduate students.  Graduate students and MBAs today are faced with the consequences of the Great Contraction and completely different reality. Elizabeth Scarborough, the CEO of Simpson Scarborough, the higher education market research firm that conducted the survey, will be on campus next Thursday. Description: The realm of financial psychology is vastly unexplored in the world of academia. By giving our members the opportunity to participate in a money personality workshop, we’re helping them learn about themselves as future financial investors and advisors. Completing this workbook, developed by Bentley University Professor Kathleen Burns Kingsbury, will showcase each student’s strengths and weaknesses as well as ways to improve upon their skills in order to help better serve their clients. This workshop will give us all the opportunity to learn about and explore our current money personalities, which are greatly impacted by our money history. Professor Kingsbury will lead us of through a number of exercises that will teach us to let go of certain money messages that sabotage our financial and emotional well-being, which will help us to discover the secret to creating a richer life for ourselves. Other topics to be discussed include but are not limited to:

- simple and effective coaching activities to explore your money psyche
- tips to inspire and motivate you to take action toward your goals
- real-life stories about how other people have mastered their money mindsets and reached their financial goals and dreams

Who should come: Members looking to analyze and evaluate their money personalities in order to expand their professional skills.

2:00-2:30: Introduction to Kathleen Burns Kingsbury and financial psychology, the concept of one’s money history and their money personality, as well as Professor Kingsbury’s personally created workbook titled ‘Creating Wealth from the Inside Out’.

             3:00-3:30: Results will be discussed, leaving time at the end for an adequate question and answer period.

Each student is given 10 minutes per round and then switch to another professional’s table for the second round. At least two rounds are guaranteed for each participant! GSA Harbor Cruise Celebration

The weather is getting nice and the end of the semester is coming. GSA would like to celebrate this time of the year as well as the graduating classes with Boston Harbor Cruise.  During this celebration, we will have coctail hour, main course menu and music, not to forget the two drink tickets we provide.  We are boarding at 7:30 and we will dock & disembark at 11pm.

Come and join us for the biggest event of this semester! The tickets will be on my.bentley.edu by April 16th. (There are vegetarian and meat lover selections)

GSA will provide transportation to the Oddysey Cruises for the ones who is worried about reaching there. It will leave from campus at 6:15pm and will leave from the dock at 11:45pm.
